Does Federated offer internships?
We do not currently offer internship opportunities.
Does Federated offer informational interviews?
We schedule interviews only with individuals who we determine to be a possible match for one or more of our positions. We do not have the resources to interview every individual who expresses an interest in our organization.
Does Federated sponsor international students?
Not at this time. One of our requirements for employment is “permanent authorization” to work in the U.S.
What is the minimum GPA requirement for positions requiring a college degree?
For most positions, we require a minimum GPA of 3.0. We will occasionally consider an applicant with a slightly lower GPA if relevant work or leadership experience offsets the lower GPA.
What is the best way to explore the opportunities Federated has to offer?
There are several ways for you to learn more about us:
- Review this Web site in its entirety.
- Stop by the Federated booth at a Career Fair on your campus.
- Attend an event during our representatives’ visit to your campus.
- Submit your résumé through Career Services to be considered for an interview at our next on-campus interview day. (Note: If a Federated representative has previously interviewed you by phone or on campus, there is no need for you to complete another interview.)
- Select Apply Now to send your résumé to us for consideration.
Does Federated accept résumés at Career Fairs?
Yes. We review every résumé we receive to determine if there might be a match for one of our positions. We follow up with students who appear to have the academic records, abilities, and experiences that match our needs.
What if I am interested in multiple positions?
Please indicate that in your cover letter and when you talk to our representative. When we review your résumé or talk with you during an interview, we will assess your skills and abilities for a variety of positions.
I completed my interview but did not receive a job offer. Can you tell me how to be more successful the next time?
While we would like to offer this service, we simply do not have the resources to provide this kind of coaching.
Will you accept my résumé if I am not applying for a specific open position?
Yes. We accept unsolicited résumés and review them at the time we receive them. If we determine you might be a match for a Federated position at some time in the future, we will keep your résumé active to consider when a position becomes available.
What is the best way to make you aware of my interest in positions in the Owatonna area?
If you are interested in one of our hourly positions that does not require a college degree, we encourage you to send your résumé to us or contact us to request an application. You can also stop at the downtown complex in Owatonna to request an application. If you are interested in a professional position that requires a college degree, please select Apply Now to submit a résumé and cover letter.
I have submitted my application for an hourly support position in the Owatonna office, but have not had an interview. What should I do next?
Unfortunately, we cannot interview every individual who submits an application. We review every résumé and application and select those individuals who appear to be well-suited for our opportunities. If you have not had an interview, it is likely that there are other candidates who appear to be stronger matches for us. If it has been a year since you submitted an application, you might want to complete another application or send us an updated résumé.
Does Federated conduct pre-employment background screening?
Yes. Federated does criminal background checks on every applicant just before we extend a job offer. We also check an applicant’s driving record if driving is part of the job. We run a credit check if the job involves handling drafts, cash, or Company credit cards.
Does Federated conduct pre-employment drug testing?
Yes. Effective with all offers extended after July 1, 2007, all applicants must successfully pass our drug test before they begin working for Federated.
