Jason Courter, of Clyde Hill, Washington, was elected to the Board of Directors of the Federated Insurance Companies. The election took place at the Annual Meeting of Policyholders on April 18, 2023, at Federated Insurance Companies’ home office in Owatonna, Minnesota.

Courter has been involved in the automobile industry for more than 30 years. He is the chief executive officer and owner of Honda Auto Center of Bellevue and Honda of Kirkland, both family-owned auto dealerships serving the needs of the greater Seattle area of Washington for more than 40 years. He and his sisters, Carrie Blanton and Kelly Hudgins, purchased the businesses from their parents in 2019. The dealerships employ just over 200 people, and sell new and used vehicles and provide efficient, quality vehicle care using the most current diagnostic and repair equipment available.

Retail Auto Industry Advocacy

In addition to being a staunch advocate for the retail auto industry, Courter has spearheaded grassroots efforts for the Washington State Auto Dealers (WSADA) association — he is also a past board member and president—Puget Sound Automobile Dealers (PSADA) association, and the American International Automobile Dealers (AIADA) association, for which he was named the national chair of in 2020. Courter is also a supporter of the Washington Ambassadors Club and Washington State President’s Club (DEAC).

Community Advocacy

Advocating for causes that lift his community and the young people in it is also important to Courter. To that end, he was recently nominated for the Time Magazine Quarterly Dealer Award, one of the automobile industry’s most prestigious and highly coveted honors. Recipients are among the most successful auto dealers who also demonstrate a long-standing commitment to community service.

He is also a member of Shirts Across America, an organization that aims to “build homes to build leaders.” Courter is also a Big to an 11-year-old Little through Big Brothers Big Sisters® of Puget Sound.

Courter graduated from Washington State University in Pullman in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree, majoring in Advertising and Business Administration. He then attended and graduated from the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) Academy in 1999.

He serves his local dealer advisory group for Honda and is currently on the National Advisory Committee for Honda Parts and Service Operations.

“Jason has also served on Federated Insurance’s Advisory Council for more than eight years, providing invaluable input on insurance and risk management issues that impact his business and respective industry,” said Jeff Fetters, chairman, Federated Insurance. “He will be an invaluable addition to the Board of Directors.”

He and his wife of more than 26 years, Courtney, live in Clyde Hill, Washington — a Seattle suburb — and have two daughters, Hanley and Grace.
